After successfully implementing a “Challenge Team” program in Texas with five individuals who had nutritional challenges and physical limitations, Danielle Girdano, with D’Fine Sculpting and Nutrition and the SBAC Wellness Committee Chair, received several hundred requests to implement another “D’Fine Challenge Team.” Danielle envisioned a new project with corporate wellness – rather than individuals – as the focus. After creating a plan and reaching out to local vendors, D’Fine sought a corporate office from among SBAC member businesses. Ultimately, the Chicago Sky WNBA team corporate office was chosen as the “dream team”.
Participants of the “Chicago Sky Project” were subjected to full health panels before the program began to...

I (Joanna Reeves, Chiropractor) was referred to Mason Cole by a friend. Mason invited me to an SBAC happy hour where I met Josh Smith. Josh was able to help me start my business and has continued to work with me in managing my business and finances. Mason introduced me into the world of networking and has assisted me with legal advice as well. I met Eric Daniel at a happy hour as well. He has continued to help me with marketing my business and networking.

Erryn Cobb of Fetch PR and Brett Horowitz of MPI work in two complementary fields, media planning and public relations. Brett introduced Erryn to a potential piece of business in one of Brett’s auto repair clients, and Erryn brought Brett in on a potential digital advertising campaign. It is good to know that whenever Brett has any PR needs he can always look for Erryn Cobb at Fetch PR.

Jordan Margolis (Margolis Law Firm)
I met Howard Kavinsky, The Heartland Group Financial Services, at an SBAC function last year, and we have cross-pollinated regularly with other SBAC contacts. Howard has introduced me to numerous lawyers who may need a Personal Injury Lawyer for referrals, and I've introduced Estates and Planning lawyers who may need a financial service Go To Guy. Howard and I have formed an informal Strategic Alliance of our own, which fits one cornerstone of the SBAC mission.

The SBAC is such a great network of businesses and individuals, but for prospective members, what are some success stories you can tell them about? Moving forward, I will be posting success stories of members networking within the SBAC. To start it all off, how about a success story from me!
Brett Gordon – Weigel Broadcasting (WCIU-TV)
I met Jack Lane at Lane Media and Production at an SBAC event. After getting together, we found there could be great opportunities for overlap with our clients. At my television station, we can’t always provide the needed production for some commercials. Jack has been a great resource for alternative production. Jack also allowed me to pitch an advertising campaign through him to one...

Melissa Ryzy, our wonderful membership chair and all-around great person, introduced me to Eileen Usher. In addition to being an extremely nice person, Eileen is an experienced CPA and partner in B2B CFO, which is a company that specializes in filling CFO and controller roles when a company would rather not incur the expense of a full time employee. As a new member to the SBAC, Melissa thought Eileen and myself should meet given our backgrounds. After receiving the introduction, I followed up with Eileen and had a nice conversation about the SBAC along with our respective businesses. The next day Eileen called and asked if I would like to speak with her brother-in-law who was in the process of seeking a CPA firm to perform his...
