Governor Rauner Signals Support for SBAC Initiative


Governor Rauner recently vetoed legislation that would have allowed an establishment, located less than 100 feet from a religious institution, to serve alcohol. It’s not that he doesn’t support the opening of the business, but that he wants a common-sense solution to out-of-date statute that requires the full General Assembly to weigh in on licensing issues that should be decided on the local level.

The SBAC is committed to working in a bipartisan manner on replacing this arduous process, that disproportiantely impacts communities already struggling to create economic growth. For more information, please see a copy of the Governor’s press release below.
