S.B.A. Lending Program About To Expire

New York Times reporter Robert Mendelbaum took look at the upcoming expiration of the S.B.A.’s Recovery Capital Loan program and its apparent shortcomings.

“In a month, the ARC loan program will expire, and as of Aug. 20, the S.B.A. has approved just 8,281 stabilization loans. The program will be lucky if it passes 9,000 loans when the clock runs out.” Mendelbaum reported. “The S.B.A., though, prefers to see the glass four-fifths full, rather than one-fifth empty.”

While the program was a great idea, the execution was poor. Providing financing to small business = the creation of jobs.
