HB 3186, the Small Business Contracts Act, passed the House late afternoon yesterday, on a vote of 104-12!
This bill, sponsored by Representative LaShawn Ford (D-Chicago), the Chair of the Small Business Committee, establishes a goal of 10% for all state contracts to be awarded to small businesses. Agencies will be tasked with creating an annual compliance plan to report on whether they hit the goal and if not, how they plan to hit the goal for next year.
This is big progress and a big victory for the organization that is actually advocating for small business!
This announcement is compliments of our great friend Dan Johnson-Weinberger! Thanks to everyone for their support. Let’s continue to pass the Bills.
