U.S. Senators Durbin and Kirk voice their support for health care coop funding!

With your help, the SBAC and our coalition members continue to overcome insurmountable obstacles to implement a health care coop in Illinois. After asking our members to galvanize support with our congressional leaders only last week, we were recently informed that Senator Mark Kirk has joined with Senator Dick Durbin in expressing support for our effort. Additionally Congressman Mike Quigley and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky have also expressed their support for our effort.

After receiving authorization from the State of Illinois earlier this year, our team of doctors, surgeons and business leaders from SimpleHX most recently presented our vision for an Illinois’ Health Insurance Cooperative to CMS and requested funding to operate and maintain adequate reserves for the Cooperative. Per recent notification from CMS, we weres asked to revise and re-submit our loan application, which we submitted last week. At this time, CMS is reviewing our application and we anticipate hearing back from them sometime this month. Stay tuned for more updates!

As we indicated previously, every communication makes a difference, and your work clearly did exactly that! Thank you for your support and dedication to small business!
