Senators renew Internet sales tax push
For the past several years, we have supported and lobbied for the Marketplace Fairness Act. This legislation grants states the authority to compel online retailers, no matter their location, to collect sales tax at the time of a transaction – exactly like local retailers are already required to do. This solidly bi-partisan legislation levels the playing field for brick and mortar businesses who have to pay for their storefront, employees, etc.
Congressional leaders are working to move this legislation before the upcoming elections. The Hill explains the status of the bill here.
