What Is Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is the provision of services to people to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout their lifetime. It also helps to decrease pain and educate individuals to take a proactive approach to their health.
Physical therapists are graduates of a 6 to 7 year accredited program with a Masters or Doctorate in Physical Therapy. They must pass the state licensure test to practice physical therapy. Our therapists are trained and skilled to evaluate your particular musculoskeletal problem and develop a treatment plan based on the goals that you’ve discussed.
Physical therapy may consist of:
- Manual therapy
- Movement enhancement
- Physical, electrotherapeutic and mechanical agents
- Functional training
- Provision of aids and appliances
- Patient related instruction and counseling
- Communication with other medical personnel, such as your physician.
