Sea English Academy Graduates 8th TESOL Class

Sea English Academy in Schaumburg is proud to announce their 8th TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Graduating Class. The 6 new TESOL graduates were awarded their TESOL certificates at a ceremony Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Sea English Academy office.

TESOL certification allows individuals to teach English abroad or domestically.

After having completed the 4 week TESOL curriculum and 2 weeks of practicum teaching in the community, 3 of the 6 graduates plan to teach English abroad, primarily in Asia and 3 plan to seek employment domestically.

“In this challenging job environment, many high school and college graduates are left with a diploma or degree and nothing else. Sea English Academy is a great ‘Plan B’ for those seeking employment. And who wouldn’t want to travel the world and get paid!”, says Mira Benjamin, Business Development Director.

She adds that it is not necessary to speak a foreign language to be TESOL certified, since teaching English is done through complete immersion, in that English is the only language spoken during lessons. It is also not necessary to possess a college degree, although the salary for degreed TESOL teachers is significantly higher.

If you are a job seeker or recently retired and interested in teaching English abroad or domestically, contact Mira Benjamin for the next monthly Information Session . Information Sessions are currently held at 1920 Thoreau Dr. N #175 Schaumburg, IL 60173 and at SBAC 20 S Clark St. #500 Chicago, IL 60603
