How To Choose The Right Surveillance Company For Your Needs

When you make the decision that it’s time to set up a new security system or upgrade your existing security system, it’s important to take a good hard look at your options. While the equipment that many surveillance companies use may be comparable, the experience of the technicians and quality of the installation is not.

The three things to keep in mind that will separate a great reliable system from the rest are: 1) system design, 2) installer experience, 3) system support after installation.

When you meet with a prospective surveillance company, here are key questions to ask:

  1. How many years has your company been installing surveillance systems?
  2. What are my warranty and support options after the system is installed?
  3. Do you have any satisfied customers I can speak to about their surveillance system?
  4. Do you charge for preparing a project estimate?

It’s important to clearly outline what you’re looking for in a system and your expectations of the equipment. Each system design should be unique to the customer’s needs. You need a company that is committed to providing solutions to meet your surveillance needs, rather than simply selling you a camera system.

For instance, a service provider who tries to sell you a security system without even looking at where it will be installed is probably not concerned about whether you have a system that meets your needs. And while it may seem like a great idea to have a solar-powered camera with night vision that can be accessed from your iPhone when you’re away on business in Europe, you may be paying for more than you need.

Ultimately, you want to select a security company that solves your surveillance problem. A reputable provider will offer multiple options to meet your needs, as well as support your system with a maintenance contract.
