LLC Bill stuck in House Committee: Contact your legislators to urge support
For nearly two years, the Illinois small business community has fought to lower Illinois LLC fees – the highest in the nation. Forming as an LLC is the right choice for many small businesses, but far too many business owners form as corporations or file in other states to avoid the excessive fees. Illinois’ fee structure also perpetuates the perception that our state is a difficult place to own or launch a small business.
The SBAC is supporting Senate Bill (SB) 2776, which lowers LLC filing fees from $500 to $39 and series LLC fees from $750 to $59. The bill has already passed the Senate without opposition with strong bi-partisan support and is currently stuck in the Illinois House Revenue and Finance Committee, and at present has not had a simple vote to move to the House floor.
We need your help! SBAC and coalition members have already sent hundreds of emails and calls and in-person visits to their legislators about this issue. Now we need you to reach out again and ask for this bill to be called for a vote in committee. Please click here to take a couple minutes to email your state representative to ask for his or her support.
